DESCRIPCTION OF THE SUBJECT
The meaning of English as a subject is to educate on the English language in general, and to aid students in
the understanding and employment of the language. English is taught as a foreign language in non-English
speaking countries in order to establish communication and negotiation in such a globalized world and
demanding as the word today.
English more than a subject is the number one language all over the world and as a subject belonging to a
foreign language, allows students interact in the educational process building their own knowledge and their
own skills for life.
Purposes:
Help students how to communicate and manage themselves in an effective way using the
language itself.
Help students to speak and write correctly and fluently, in a natural way without thinking
in Spanish.
Help students how to produce documents about the everyday life according to their level.
Improve and hone acquired competences in previous levels and get ready for their future
lives.
Value and recognize the importance of the English language as an essential tool, in the
development of the life of the human being; in his/her student, professional and personal
life.

Methodology:
Based and focused on the functional and communicative approach. It is to say, the teaching of a
foreign language in the classroom in such a way that students can communicate in a conscious way
taking into account their real experiences; this methodology provides opportunities in the classroom
for students to engage in real-life communication in the target language, with this type of
methodology, the teacher sets up a situation that student is likely to encounter in real life.
A little bit of the eclectic methodology will also be used in the teaching of English language as a
subject in classes. This type of methodology mixes structural approaches with communicative use
of language; eclecticism involves the use of a variety of learning activities each of which may have
different characteristics and may be motivated by different underlying assumptions.
