Thanksgiving Mass

Teacher’s Day Celebration

October 6, 2020

INTRODUCTORY RITES
Great men cherish as CDC confidently journeying to excellence. Today, we are celebrating a very
special day for our school’s thanksgiving for a fruitful beginning of the school year and to celebrate the
spirit of wisdom as God entrusted to our Teachers to equip our students with. God is good that He help us
perform excellently the best feather added to our cap. And what better way we can show our gratitude for
the special day of our Teachers than celebrating a thanksgiving mass.
Let us all join our hands in songs and prayers, as we are about to offer the sacrifice of Jesus in
this Thanksgiving Mass. We ask you to pray, that this celebration, we may offer with conviction and
meaningful sacrifice to our Lord.
Our main celebrant is Rev. Fr. Jerry Orbos, SVD. Let us all be one and sing our entrance song.

Entrance Song
“Table of Plenty”
Come to the feast of heaven and earth
Come to the table of plenty
God will provide for all that we need
Here at the table of plenty
O come and sit at my table
Where saints and sinners are friends
I wait to welcome the lost and lonely
To share the cup of my love
Come to the feast of heaven and earth
Come to the table of plenty
God will provide for all that we need
Here at the table of plenty

GREETINGS
Celebrant: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen
Celebrant: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy
Spirit be with you all.
All: And with your spirit.

PENITENTIAL RITE
Celebrant: Brethren (brothers and sisters), let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to
celebrate the sacred mysteries.
All: I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my
thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault,
through my fault, through my most grievous faulttherefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the
Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Celebrant: May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
All: Amen
LITURGY OF THE WORD
A Reading from the letters to the Galatians
(Galatians 1:13-24)
Brothers and sisters:
You heard of my former way of life in Judaism, how I persecuted the Church of God beyond measure and
tried to destroy it,
and progressed in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries among my race, since I was even more a
zealot for my ancestral traditions.
But when he, who from my mother’s womb had set me apart and called me through his grace, was
pleased
to reveal his Son to me, so that I might proclaim him to the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult flesh
and blood,
nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were Apostles before me; rather, I went into Arabia and then
returned to Damascus.
Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to confer with Cephas and remained with him for fifteen
days.
But I did not see any other of the Apostles, only James the brother of the Lord.
(As to what I am writing to you, behold, before God, I am not lying.)
Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia.
And I was unknown personally to the churches of Judea that are in Christ;
they only kept hearing that “the one who once was persecuting us is now preaching the faith he once tried
to destroy.”
So they glorified God because of me.
The word of the Lord

All: Thanks be to God

Responsorial Psalm – Psalms 139:1B-3, 13-14AB, 14C-15

R. Let our response be Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.
O LORD, you have probed me and you know me;
you know when I sit and when I stand;
you understand my thoughts from afar.
My journeys and my rest you scrutinize,
with all my ways you are familiar.
R. Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.
Truly you have formed my inmost being;
you knit me in my mother’s womb.
I give you thanks that I am fearfully, wonderfully made;
wonderful are your works.
R. Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.
My soul also you knew full well;
nor was my frame unknown to you
When I was made in secret,
when I was fashioned in the depths of the earth.
R. Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.

Alleluia – Luke 11:28

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Blessed are those who hear the word of God
and observe it.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel
Celebrant: The Lord be with you.
All: And with your spirit.
Celebrant: A reading from the Holy Gospel According to St. Luke (Gospel Lk 10:38-42)
All: Glory to you, O Lord
Jesus entered a village where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him.
She had a sister named Mary who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak.
Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister
has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me.”
The Lord said to her in reply, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things.
There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.”

Celebrant: The gospel of the Lord.

All: Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

HOMILY

Prayer of the Faithful

Celebrant: Brothers and sisters, in our hearts, let us ask God to send us His spirit that through His
guidance and with the aid of our school’s vision and mission, we may truly become apostolic Christians

Graciously Hear us, o Lord
1. For the Holy Catholic Church all over the world, for our Pope Francis, Bishops, priests and
religious and for all day leaders, Let us pray to the Lord.
2. For our school Calamba Doctors’ College that our Heavenly Father may provide the needed
support, and inspiration to pursue its goal and mission, Let us pray to the Lord.

them and keep them safe, bless them with good health and wisdom to make decisions for the
betterment of the school and it’s stakeholders, Let us pray to the Lord.

admonish, and equip their students with all they need to fulfill their God-given purposes. Let us
pray to the Lord.

Lord.
7. For our parents, relatives, teachers, benefactors and friends, may they all be safe and recover
from mental and physical suffering that had cause by this pandemic, Let us pray to the Lord.

THE LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST

Offertory Hymn:
“Blest are You, Lord”
Blest are You, Lord God of all creation
Thanks to Your goodness, this bread we offer:
Fruit of the earth, work of our hands,
It will become the bread of life.
Blessed be God, blessed be God,
Blessed be God, forever. Amen. (x2)
Blest are you, Lord God of all creation
Thanks to Your goodness, this wine we offer:
Fruit of the vine, work of our hands,
It will become our cup of joy.

Celebrant: With humble spirit and contrite heart may we be accepted by you, O Lord, and may our
sacrifice in your sight this day be pleasing to you, Lord God.
Pray, brethren (brothers and sisters), that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the
almighty Father.
All: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good and
the good of all his holy Church.
Prayer over the Offering
All: Amen
Celebrant: The Lord be with you.
All: And with your spirit.
Celebrant: Lift up your hearts.
All: We lift them up to the Lord.
Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All: It is right and just.
Celebrant: It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord. In him you have been pleased to
renew all things, giving us all a share in his fullness. For though he was in the form of God, he
emptied himself and by the blood of his Cross brought peace to all creation. Therefore he has
been exalted above all things, and to all who obey him, has become the source of eternal
salvation. And so, with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominions, and with all the
hosts and Powers of heaven, we sing the hymn of your glory, as without end we acclaim:
All: “Holy” (to be said)
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

Celebrant: (Eucaristic Prayer)

All: (to be said)
We proclaim your Death, O Lord,
and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.
Celebrant: (Eucaristic Prayer continuation)
All: Amen

THE COMMUNION RITE

Celebrant: At the Saviour’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to sing
All: “Our Father”
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Celebrant: Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help
of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed
hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
All: For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever.

GREETING OF PEACE
Celebrant: Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles: Peace I leave you, my peace I give you, look
not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in
accordance with your will. Who live and reign for ever and ever.
All: Amen.
Celebrant: The peace of the Lord be with you always.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,
grant us peace.
Invitation to Communion
Celebrant: Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world.
Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
All: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be
healed.
All: Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.

Final Song:
“I Will Sing Forever”
I will sing forever of Your love, O Lord
I will celebrate the wonder of Your name
For the word that You speak is a song of forgiveness
And a song of gentle mercy and of peace
Let us wake at the morning and be filled with Your love
And sing songs of praise all our days
For Your love is as high as the heavens above us
And Your faithfulness as certain as the dawn
I will sing forever of Your love, O Lord
I will celebrate the wonder of Your name
For the word that You speak is a song of forgiveness
And a song of gentle mercy and of peace
