Horror Intended to have capacity to frighten or
scare readers by inducing feelings or
horror and terror.

Science fiction A type of fantasy that uses science and


technology.

Adventure An exciting story in which the characters


either travel on a journey or experience
dangerous events.

Poetry Written to create a response of thought and


feeling from the reader, or express feeling.
Poetry often uses rhythm and rhyme.

Autobiography The story of real person’s life that is


written by that person (the author).
Folklore Includes stories, myths, and fables that
people told one another over the years.
Later, the stories were written down.
