1. Effectivity:
Upon release.
2. Purpose
This procedure documents how to replace the Horizon Picker Tires, known as part number
SP-00235.
4. Method / Procedures
During ALL steps standard ESD practices should be followed. ESD critical steps are
labeled with the following symbol .
Before starting use the front panel to Shutdown the Horizon Imager, then disconnect
the power cord at the rear of the unit.
WARNING: Extreme Care must be exercised during this replacement procedure. There
are small parts that could become lost in the Imager resulting in a failure of the unit. In
addition the tools that are used could damage the Bright Annealed Sheetmetal
basement below the Picker Carriages resulting in Media Jams.
WARNING: Use care when removing e-ring clips. During the removal of the e-ring clips,
the clips may shoot out of the Horizon Imager at high velocity and cause injury. Eye
protection is required.
WARNING: This procedure is only for units that already have the Green Urethane Tires
installed and those Pick Tires need to be replaced.
4.1.1. Remove the Receiver Tray Assy. (570-213-###) and set it aside carefully.
4.1.2. Remove any installed media trays from the unit.

WARNING: DO NOT DROP THE ROLL PIN INTO THE HORIZON IMAGER
4.1.4. Eye Protection Is Required ; Install the new Picker Tire onto the shaft and ensure
the pin is seated into the groove on the picker tire. Using the E-Ring insertion tool,
carefully slide the E-Ring onto the picker shaft to secure the Picker Tire.

4.1.5. Repeat the two steps above for the other sides Picker Tire and for Slots 2 &3.

CLEAN THE PICKER TIRES WITH A 70% ALCOHOL PAD BEFORE USING THE NEW
PICKER TIRES.
THE HORIZON PICKER TIRES MAY BREAK IN OVER THE FIRST 500 PRINTS, AT THAT
POINT IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO CLEAN THEM AGAIN. ALSO CLEAN OUT OF THE
HORIZON ANY PARTICLES THAT MAY HAVE FALLEN INTO THE BASEMENT AREA,
THESE PARTICLES ARE NORMAL TO SEE DURING THE BREAK IN PERIOD.

• There is a question or problem concerning these instructions then contact the Codonics
Technical Support Department.
• There is a lost roll pin, then contact the Codonics Technical Support Department.
• There is damage to any of the SP-00235 rollers, then contact the Codonics Technical
Support Department.
