Taller 1 Esfuerzos Normales y Cortantes

The document provides two problems related to normal and shear stresses. The first problem involves calculating the normal stress in two cylinders and the minimum diameter of a steel pin given the load and geometry of an excavator shovel. The second problem involves calculating cable tensions, average shear stress in pins, and average bearing stress between a steel plate and pins given the plate's dimensions, orientation angles of cables attached to it, and pin diameters.

TALLER 1: ESFUERZOS NORMAL Y CORTANTE

Resolver los siguientes problemas propuestos:

Problema 1.

Problem 2. A steel plate of dimensions 2.5 X 1.5 X 0.08 m and weighing 23.1 kN is hoisted by steel
cables with lengths 𝐿1 = 3.2 𝑚 and 𝐿2 = 3.9 𝑚 that are each attached to the plate by a clevis and pin
(see figure). The pins through the clevises are 18 mm in diameter and are located 2.0 m apart. The
orientation angles are measured to be 𝜃 = 94.4° and 𝛼 = 54.9°.
For these conditions, first determine the cable forces 𝑇1 and 𝑇2 , then find the average shear stress
𝜏𝑎𝑣𝑒𝑟 in both pin 1 and pin 2, and then the average bearing stress 𝜎𝑏 between the steel plate and each
pin. Ignore the mass of the cables.
