Transit Oriented Development

A Case Study: Orange Line Train

Executive Summary;
Freightage, carriage or transportation-oriented development proffer benefits to its consumer countries it makes street
secure or less populate are will be freer from attack or terrorism. It keeps the city areas out of harms ways. The
plotting of the transportation development at the bay areas helps people in city to live a defended and secure live. It
provides sheltered services and reduces pollution, contamination and adulteration from the very streets off cities and
enhances healthy cities and earns fare revenue for the country. The same was expected and tried to implement from
the imposition of transit-oriented development of the ORANGE LINE Train in Lahore Pakistan under China
Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The planning strategies of urban transportation emerges the concept of transit-
oriented development. In a country like Pakistan where there is deadly smoke all raised by the use of vehicles
contamination of water, noise and air pollution as well as street crimes that mostly happens in the most crowded
areas. The best decision the government of Pakistan could take was the introduction of ORANGE-LINE Train. The
rapid increase of urbanization which also causes the rapid increase in crimes and befouling. The major crises were
the management of transportation. The concept of transit-oriented development (TOD) in Pakistan is developed as
the urban growth paradigm keeping in view the United States BART services as it is connected with the smart
growth of Pakistan.

Findings

 Accomplishment of the project.

 Mutilation to the heritage sides of Lahore.
 High development machinery.
 Use and awareness of IIL HSS.
 Use of system designs and accommodating other design elements.
 Proper use of automated train control system.

Discussion
The major issues faced with the development of the orange line train implementing the BART technology were no
less foremost the debauched accomplishment and the completion of the project was the major issue as the project
had been stopped multiple of times by the government of Punjab’s orders. As the government was opposed for the
development of these projects due to not having the cost-effective solutions, and the concern of the development of
TOD closer to the business, commercial, residential, and recreational areas so that the access to the public transport
would be maximize. The solution was provided by the constructor of TOD by making it elevated and underground
near the transit stations as to avoid the wastage of valuable land and ruining the heritage of Pakistan. The newest
most common concept of rail transit ridership can be increased by these, and more employment for the locomotive
engineers could be found easily to run the high development machinery accurately, and engineers were hired for the
function of the system within the train to operate it on the tracks. All these pressing matters started on October,
2015, with the investment of 21.49 billion (US $130 Millions) earned the revenue of around 0.5 million and 85
thousand within its first 8 days. Now compensating all the amount used for its designing and management, scheming
and supervision.

Conclusion:
All and all the introduction of orange line train was a drastic step toward the economic development of Pakistan,
many an assumption been made. It was an improved way to use high rise development to fulfill the housing
demands and to achieve effective Transit System. The social, economic and environmental impact of this project
leads to the upgradation of communal amenities and organizations. The land prices automatically upsurge due to
increased accessibility. The enticements must be given to private inventors in the assistances of attaining the
construction permits, and dropping the charges of commercialization healthier concentration of enriching the home-
grown economy.
Recommendations:
 Increase junctions.
 Local route journey.
 Ease of booking.
