Modern Ways of Communication
Modern Ways of Communication
Nowadays it is much easier to communicate than it was twenty years ago. We can send
and get messages right away with the help of new technologies. Twenty years ago
people communicated with each other mainly face to face. They spoke on the phone or
wrote letters. People who lived in different countries couldn’t communicate face to face.
Sending and receiving a letter took many days.
These days we have new technologies such as computers, laptops and tablets which
connect to the Internet using Wi-Fi or 3G technologies. We also have mobile phones or
smart phones. These gadgets have revolutionized the way we communicate. They are
essential nowadays, they are a necessary part of our everyday lives. We can make calls or
send text messages to each other using mobile phones. We can also take photos or
download music on one gadget and share it with others. The Internet can be used for
many types of communication including e-mails, video conferences, online chatting,
social networking, blogging or posting messages on forums.
The Internet has many advantages. It makes immediate communication possible, yet it is
cheaper than phone calls. It allows face to face communication even with people who
are far away. So we don’t need to travel. We can stay connected with friends and family
while we are on the move. Modern technology helps us to keep in touch and
communicate with each other in a fast and easy way. In addition to this, new
technologies help us get information quicker. If a disaster happens in Australia or Canada
for example, people will hear about it a few hours later.
On the one hand modern communication technology makes life easier but ont he other
hand it has potential dangers. We have become more and more dependant on
computers in communication, as a result we may lose real social skills. In the end we will
communicate less well. Nowadays even children use different devices of technology from
a very young age. It might have serious consequences. For example if each member of
the family has their own computer or smart phone, they might spend too much time in
front of the screen. So they will speak less to each other, or simply keep on looking at the
screen even while they are together. The same can happen when teenagers are with
their friends. Sometimes they spend more time looking at their phones than talking to
each other.
All in all, my opinion is that modern technological devices are really convenient and
essential nowadays. They are so useful for everything that it would be difficult to survive
in our world without them. They are part of our lives but we must be careful that they do
not take control over our lives.
