Explain Business Operations That Can Be Linked To Diversity

Diversity in the workplace involves creating a culture where people of different backgrounds can work together harmoniously. This can spark creativity by bringing different perspectives and promoting innovation. However, it can also create tensions if not handled effectively, as existing employees may resent changes. To manage diversity, companies need to evaluate processes, change hiring practices to attract diverse candidates, implement diversity training, and have dispute resolution procedures. Culture refers to the principles that guide people's behaviors. A diverse workforce brings different cultures, beliefs, traditions and practices influenced by attributes like race, age, nationality, gender and religion. 1. Explain business operations that can be linked to diversity.

Diversity in the workplace involves creating a culture of work where people of

different races, genders and nationalities can blend together and work in
harmony. Creating a more diverse work environment can have an impact on the
working environment. Management might will need to evaluate the operational
processes and make the required changes.
 Sparkling Creativity
Management should leverage diversity to build a more innovative working
atmosphere. The tension that comes from creating diverse teams will provide
the edge required to promote innovation. People with varied backgrounds may
bring various viewpoints and perceptions that contribute to a vibrant dialogue
that also inspires creativity. On the other side, a more homogeneous team
cannot accommodate opposing views as well, because they are not
anticipated and can be perceived because "rocking a plane."
 Creating Tension
Conflicts generated by diversity, on the other side, may build stress in the
workforce, and may potentially impact efficiency if not handled effectively. If
the workplace moves from a homogeneous to a more diverse workplace
culture, members of the "old guard" may be resented by a change that could
make it difficult for people to work together. One direction in which
management may avoid potentially damaging disputes is to reinforce company
goals and principles early on in the diversification cycle.
 Alerting Hiring Practises
The implementation of a diverse workplace can create a need for an
organisation to change its hiring practises. Organizations looking to introduce
more women to their workplace, for example, can need to adjust recruiting
strategies and concentrate on obtaining eligible female applicants. Companies
also need to ensure their recruiting practices are not in violation of anti-
discrimination laws relating to attributes such as race, gender, religion,
nationality and disability, which could result in legal action.
 Planning
Effectively building a culturally diverse work climate normally involves
preparation. In addition to improving recruiting policies, the preparation and
execution of diversity training initiatives can be important to prepare a
organisation for an evolving population and to insure that the assimilation
phase is effective. The organisation will therefore create an action strategy to
resolve the diversification concerns that may occur, such as dispute
management procedures.

2. Describe diversity within the business environment including:

 Cultures
 Beliefs
 Traditions and practices
Culture is known to be the fundamental principles that guide people's
behaviour. Cultural diversity at the workplace is the product of the behaviours,
ideals, customs or attitudes of workers depending on colour, age, nationality,
faith or gender. Economic globalization is one of the driving forces of cultural
diversity in the workplace. The modern workforce is made up of people of
different genders, ages, ethnicity, religions, and nationalities. Employers have
realized that workforce diversity provides both material and intangible benefits.
In order for employers to reap the benefits of cultural diversity in the
workplace, they must communicate their commitment to addressing the
challenges of a diverse workforce. Employers must be seen to be celebrating
their employees’ diversity to avoid workplace issues, like awkwardness and
hostility.
