TOP CHORD MEMBER and WEB MEMBER COMPUTATION

The document provides force and length data for the top chord, bottom chord, and web members of a truss. Critical members were identified as the top chord member MO with a force of 438.8 kN and length of 1 m, and the web member BC with a force of 157.39 kN and length of 1.18 m. Calculations are shown to check the adequacy of these members by computing their required cross-sectional areas, theoretical masses, and maximum loads they can carry based on the applied forces and lengths. It is determined that both members are safe based on their computed capacities exceeding the applied forces.
