As we learn only theoretical experience in today's dynamic global field can’t work anymore.
Research is needed in every sector today to understand the on-going scenario, changing
situation and to go to the depth of the problems so that adequate knowledge about that area
can be developed.

Research work is looking for new ways to add value to that area and to contribute to that
particular area. Further research work enhances knowledge of a particular area in depth. So, it
allows researchers to build models, so allows society as a whole.

The topic of this research is “Analysis of Investment Pattern of Mutual Fund Investors in
Surat City”. I have tried to cover each and every aspect related to this topic with the best of
my knowledge and understandings. I sincerely hope this research would help many people in
the future.

It was a great opportunity and memorable experience for me to understand investment pattern
of mutual fund investors and the knowledge that I gained from this research will surely act as
a stepping stone in a successful career. The respondents who provided their information were
quite cooperative and provided valuable insights for the study.

A Project Report is an evaluation of one's great ability and aptitude. In immense patience,
time and brains one must devote oneself to compiling one such rewarding outcome of true
efforts.

I wish to thank the Gujarat Technological University for giving me the opportunity to
brighten academic qualifications which provide an opportunity to have relevant field
knowledge. Our uttermost thanks to our institute S. R. Luthra Institute of Management for
giving us the opportunity to undergo Summer Internship Project (SIP).

I am also grateful to the Honourable director, Dr. Jimmy M. Kapadia, who offered a
wonderful opportunity during the covid-19 situations to get the project finished at home. I
would like to thank my Summer Internship Project Faculty Guide, Assistant Professor Ms.
Swapna Nair for her immense encouragement, guidance and helping us in the best way. She
was inspiring to direct me through every step of my project and thus make the whole thesis a
full learning experience.

Once again, I am grateful to all those who directly and indirectly helped to bring this project
to fruition.
 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
A mutual fund is a company that pools money from many investors and invests the money in
securities like stocks, bonds and short-term debt etc. The mutual fund 's combined holdings
are also known as its portfolio. Shares in mutual funds are purchased by investors. Each share
represents part ownership of an investor in the fund as well as the revenue it generates.

The summary gives insight view and highlight about analysis of investment pattern of mutual
fund investors in Surat city. The following study have different chapters.

The First Chapter is Introduction and it contains information about what is investment and
types of investment. The Second Chapter is Industry Profile and it provide the information
about mutual fund, types of mutual funds, scope of mutual fund in global scenario, national
level and state level, PESTEL analysis, current trends in mutual funds, major players and
major offerings of mutual fund.

The Third Chapter is Literature Review and it attempts to study the background of the topic
by learning what other have done in the same field and justifying the research purpose being
undertaken.

The Fourth Chapter is Research Methodology and it discusses information about problem
statement, objective of the study, research design, data collection tools, benefit of study and
limitation of study.

The Fifth Chapter is Data Analysis in this primary data have been collected through
structured questionnaire where the sample size was 150 through google docs and is presented
by using tables and graphs. The data interpretation was done with the help of statistical tool
i.e. SPSS. Various test was applied like Kruskal Wallis Test, Cross Tabulation and simple
percentage method. With the help of this test it was concluded that there is

The Sixth Chapter is finding the result of the data were summarized in this chapter.
Moreover, in the light of findings appropriate recommendation is also been given. The
references are followed from which the secondary data has been collected. Annexure contains
the questionnaire and detailed report is enclosed herewith.
