SYNTAX

1. Underline eight adjectives in the following passage.


Decrepit Victorian mansions loomed out of the snowfall on the town’s
sporadic hills. Beyond them, cedars wove a steep mat of still green …
The wind drove snowflakes steadily inland, hurling them against the fragrant
trees, and the snow began to settle on the highest branches with a gentle
implacability.

Conversation based on passage number 1:


Louis : Kate, have you ever heard about Decrepit Victorian mansions?
Kate : Yes. I ever heard about it. What happened, Louis?
Louis : Please tell me about that mansion.
Kate : I heard that Decrepit Victorian mansions loomed out of the snowfall.
Louis : How far is it from here?
Kate : It is not far from here. It is on the town’s sporadic hills. You can feel
the wind drove snowflake steadily inland and hurling them against the fragrant
trees there.
Louis : Wow, and then how about the snowflakes there?
Kate : The snow began to settle on the highest branches with a gentle
implacability.
Louis : What a beautiful place. I will add that place to my destination in the
holiday. Thank you, Kate.
2. Underline seven verbs in the following passage.
By two o’clock on the first afternoon of the trial, snow covered all the island
roads. A car pirouetted silently while skating on its tires, emerged from this on
a transverse angle, and slid to a stop with one headlight thrust into the door of
Petersen’s Grocery, which somebody opened at just the right moment –
miraculously – so that no damage befell car or store.

Conversation based on passage number 2:


Joe : Oh my God! Are you okay, Sir?
Jimmy : Yes, I’m okay.
Joe : I’m so sorry for almost hitting you, Sir.
Jimmy : Okay, no problem, Dude. I’m glad that I’m still alive and fine.
Joe : The snow covered all the roads. I drove my car carefully, but
unfortunately my car almost hitting the Petersen’s Grocery door, and at the
same time you opened it.
Jimmy : Fortunately, both of us are okay, and your car is not damage. Be
careful, Dude. Good bye.
Joe : Good bye, Sir.
