Design Considerations For Mounted Store Room (Grass Godown) at Chhani-Vadodara

The document provides load calculations for the design of a mounted store room building in Vadodara, India. It includes the building dimensions and material properties. It then calculates the wall loads, roof loads from purlins and sheets, and cantilever projection loads that will be transferred to the building's beams as uniform distributed loads and moments. Live loads are also calculated based on Indian standards.

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS FOR MOUNTED

STORE ROOM (GRASS GODOWN) AT CHHANI-

VADODARA
1.0 LOAD CALCULATIONS

GENERAL DATA

1. Length of building dx = 12.5m

2. Width of building dz = 8m
3. Height of building h = 6m
4. Seismic zone = III
5. Zone factor = 0.16
6. Importance factor = 1.5
7. No Future expansion considered
8. Grade of concrete = M25(for foundation and plinth beams)
9. Grade of concrete = M20(for roof beams)
10. Grade of steel = Fe500

Load calculations

 Wall load transfer on beams as udl (kN/m)

 230mm thk. masonry wall

Height of wall = 6m

Density of masonry wall = 25 kN/m² (Including plaster)

Weight of wall per m run, w = (6-0.525) x 0.26 x 25 = 35.6 kN/m

 100mm thk. masonry wall

Height of wall = 1m

Density of block wall = 25 kN/m² (Including plaster)

Weight of wall per m run, w = 1 x 0.26 x 25 = 6.5 kN/m

 Point load on masonry at roof,

Dead load of purlin (122x61x3.6) = weight per m x length

= 0.0967 x 6.15
= 0.6 KN/m
Dead load of sheet = weight per m x length
= 0.225 x 6.15
= 1.384 KN/m
Total load = 0.6 + 1.384
= 2 KN (at mid)
= 1 KN (at end)

 Live Load (As per IS 875(Part-2)-1987

Point Load (sheet) = 0.75x6.15 = 4.65 KN (AT MID)

= 2.5 KN (AT END)

 1000mm wide cantilever projection load and moment transfer on beam as udl

Total dead load of projection = 6.5 kN/m2

Live load on projection = 1.5 kN/m2

Span of cantilever slab lx = 1.0 m

DL as udl on beam = 6.5 x 1.0 = 6.5 kN/m

DL as moment on beam = 6.5 x 1.02/2 = 3.25 kN.m/m

LL as udl on beam = 0.75 x 1.0 = 0.75 KN/m

LL as moment on beam = 0.75 x 1.02/2 = 0.375 kN.m/m

 600mm wide cantilever projection load and moment transfer on beam as udl

Total dead load of projection = 6.5 kN/m2

Live load on projection = 0.75 kN/m2

Span of cantilever slab lx = 0.6 m

DL as udl on beam = 6.5 x 0.6 = 3.9 kN/m

DL as moment on beam = 6.5 x 0.62/2 = 1.17 kN.m/m

LL as udl on beam = 0.75 x 0.6 = 0.45 KN/m

LL as moment on beam = 0.75 x 0.62/2 = 0.135 kN.m/m
