1 MS PowerPoint
Microsoft PowerPoint is a presentation tool that supports text, shapes, graphics,
pictures and multimedia along with integration with other Microsoft Office products like Excel.
By default, documents saved in PowerPoint 2010 are saved with the .pptx extension whereas,
the file extension of the prior PowerPoint versions is .ppt.

1.1 File Tab


This tab opens the Backstage view which basically allows you to manage the file and settings in
PowerPoint. You can save presentations, open existing ones and create new presentations based
on blank or predefined templates.

1.2 Home Tab


The Home tab holds the Cut and Paste features, Font and Paragraph options, and what you need
to add and organize slides.

1.3 Insert Tab


Click Insert to add something to a slide. This includes pictures, shapes, charts, links, text boxes,
video and more.

1.4 Design Tab


On the Design tab, you can add a theme or color scheme, or format the slide background.

1.5 Transitions Tab


Set up how your slides change from one to the next on the Transitions tab.

1.6 Animations Tab


Use the Animations tab to choreograph the movement of things on your slides.

1.7 Slideshow Tab


Use the Slide Show tab to finalize the slide show details, timings, and more.

1.8 Review Tab


Use the Review tab to check spelling, to collaborate by adding comments, and to access editor
tools.

1.9 View Tab


This tab is used to view the presentation in different formats, it is also used to view more than
one PowerPoint window at a time, or to decide whether to display the ruler within the window.

1.10 Keyboard Shortcut keys of MS PowerPoint


To access the keyboard shortcuts is to press the Alt key on your keyboard. This will display the
first level of shortcuts indicated by alphabets or numbers as shown. For example, the shortcut to
access the Home ribbon is 'H' and for saving the presentation, the shortcut is '1'.

Once you select the first level of shortcut, the second level of shortcuts for respective commands
are shown. Notice that some of these shortcuts are disabled or displayed in a lighter shade than
others. This is because the disabled shortcuts cannot be used in the current state.
