Instructions:
Answer one question, clearly stating its number.
Drawing instruments, tracing paper, Letraset and similar aids are allowed.
The Art teacher should supply the candidates with cards measuring 5cm wide by 12 cm long with
which candidates will demarcate the area at the top –right hand corner of the front surface of the
paper. In this area, the candidate’s name, school and personal numbers, in that order, must be
written clearly. This area must not be painted.
TO THE CANDIDATES:
You are provided with a card measuring 5cm wide by 12cm long. With this card demarcate the area
at the top right – hand corner of the front surface of your paper. In this area, write your name,
centre and index numbers, in that order, clearly. This area must not be painted.
Apart from the particular media required by the question, candidates are advised to consider the
choice of different materials and processes and are reminded that the following are possible:
coloured inks, poster and water colours, stencils, wax resist, collage or printing from lino, potato
and vegetable or fruit or the use of any material such as junk, wire or string which may give an
interesting texture.

You are required to spend the 2 hours and 15 minutes doing the following:
(i) Reading and selecting both task and materials
(ii) Sketching
(iii) Transfer, if necessary
1. In an area of 20cm x 15cm, design a badge for Rwashamaire secondary school whose motto is.
“Education for Life”. Use Green, plus any other two colors. Include the sun plus any other 2 academic
related icons as their symbols.
2. A new take away restaurant needs a calendar. The name of the restaurant is “Delchi & more”. Their
marketing slogan is “healthy & deliciously” Located in Kisubi. Use only 3 colours. In 22cm X 30cm
design a calendar page for the month of May 2018 which starts on a Thursday. 1 st, 13th, and 22nd shall
be important dates.
3. Your school is planning to hold a function to thank 3 long serving teachers who have served the school
for over 20 years and they are about to retire from service, In 22cm X 30cm design a suitable repeat
pattern for use in wrapping gifts for this occasion.
4. In an area of 16 cm x 32cm with a spine of 3½ cm, design a book jacket for a book entitled
“Technology Weds Art”. Written by “Danny kay” and published by Sseggwanga (u) Ltd. Use not more
than 3 colours of your choice
