INTRODUCTION
 Intended Use of Air Compressor

The Ventiair compressor is designed to supply clean, dry, filtered, compressed air
for ventilator or other respiratory care devices. The ambient air, ranging from a
low relative humidity to 85%, is compressed and delivered at a working pressure
of 50 PSI (3.5 bar). The air compressor is capable of delivering a continuous flow
of 50 LPM.
 What to do if the compressor fails

If a condition is detected that could possibly prevent the compressor from

continuing to operate safely, it will sound an alarm. Contact a Taurus Healthcare
Pvt. Ltd., certified technician.

WARNING

(A) Power Switch
Turn the Air Compressor to ON position. A red light in the switch will indicate that
the compressor is ON. Air Compressor equipped with standby /back up mode
(central distribution line) will supply compressed air only if the primary air source
fails. If the compressor is not connected to a primary air source, the power switch
will turn the compressor on.

(B) Pressure Gauge

It indicates outlet pressure.

(C) Air Intake Filter

This acts as the first source of filtration and prevents cabinet contamination.

(D) Out -Compressor Air Outlet

This provides the oil free compressed air for ventilator.

(E) External Water Trap (optional)

It provides the final stage filtration.

(F) Compressor Motor

It intakes the natural air from the environment and generates high pressure
compressed air. The output of the compressor motor is hot high pressure air.

(G) Cooling Coil

The cooling coil helps in reducing the temperature of the hot compressed air. It
receives the hot high pressure air from compressor motor. When this air passes
through it, hot high pressure air gets cooled.

(H) Cooling Fan

The cooling fan is mounted over the compressor motor pump to cool down the
temperature of the unit.

(I) Safety Valve

It opens when compressor motor provides air pressure more than 150 PSI.

(J) IEC Inlet for Power Cord

It is used for connecting power cord.

(K) Heated Humidifier Clip

It is used for inserting Heated Humidifier.

(L) Basket
For storage purpose only.

Installation of Compressor

 Choose the given installation procedure according to air compressor

model.

Method-I

General Instructions
 Remove all internal as well as outer packing before switching on the unit as
shown in further pictures.
 This is done as the compressor pump inside the compressor is mounted on the
teflon orange o-rings for lower vibrations as well as noise level.

Method-II

VA-11/VA-12

1) Slide down the unit horizontally on a smooth base.

2) Two tie-wraps and four LN screws are required to be removed as marked in picture
(b).
3) Cut the tie-wraps using cutter and remove the LN screw using 4 mm LN key as
shown in pictures.

(a) (b)

15

VA-09

1) Slide down the unit horizontally on soft base so that cabinet is not scratched as
shown in picture.
2) Open 4 LN screws (packing screws) as screwed to base trolley by 4mm LN key
as shown in picture (b).

(a) (b)

3) Pick up the compressor carefully.

4) Now, it can be operated by using ON/OFF switch.
5) To connect ventilator to compressor, push the ventilator nozzle into the DISS
outlet i.e. “OUT” of compressor.

Setup and Operating Procedure

Operational Use

The Ventiair compressor is intended to be used as both a compressed air source and, if
configured, as an emergency backup air source. The air compressor will sense pressure
drop in a primary air source, and at a preset level, will override the primary air source to
maintain air pressure.

Set up and Operation Instruction

1. Position air compressor so that all four sides are unobstructed.

WARNING
WARNING! WARNING!

Particular attention should be exercised to keep

the front of the Compressor free of any obstruction
allow a minimum of 12” clearance at front of
compressor and 3‟‟ from the bottom surface.

2. Connect the power cord to a grounded AC electrical outlet.

3. If desired, connect air inlet to 55 +/- 5 PSIG (3.6+/-.34 bar) air supply.
4. Attach equipment to air outlet.

5. Turn ON/OFF switch to the “ON” position.

6. While the compressor is operating, observe the pressure gauge to verify operating
pressure (50-65 PSI).
7. For Ventilator Air Compressor, if the pressure of 50 PSI is not obtained at 50 LPM
flow .Contact Taurus Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.
8. For Bubble CPAP, if the pressure of 40 PSI is not obtained at 20 LPM flow. Contact
Taurus Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.

COMPRESSED AIR CONNECTION

The medical compressor is equipped with quick couplings „„AIR INLET‟‟

and “OUT‟‟ -compressor air outlet on the rear of the cabinet. Connect the
pressure hose from the given equipment/respiratory device to the quick
coupling “OUT‟‟ –outlet compressed air. Connect the compressed air line
from the central distribution line to the quick coupling air inlet compressed
air. Air from the distribution system is automatically connected through the
compressor to the “OUT‟‟ outlet port. In this configuration, the compressor
serves as a backup source of compressed air. If the air pressure from the
central distribution system is reduced, the compressor automatically
switches on and there is no interruption in the supply of continuously
pressurized air at the outlet of the compressor.

Please note that the air supply from the central distribution line entering
the compressor must be medical grade air (particle size, humidity). The
compressor does not modify the air form the central distribution line.

The hose connecting the compressor to the respiration equipment must

be as short as possible with no kinks (Long hose may cause water to
condense inside the hose).

The compressor comes with a plug containing an appropriate protective

contact (ground). The voltage and frequency of the mains must comply
with the specifications on the data label.

The power cord must not be stressed or have any tension exerted upon it,
and must always be free.
