Subject: Oil filter kit

Aircraft type affected: XA41 & XA42

Serial numbers affected: All serial numbers equipped with Lycoming AEIO 580 engine

Compliance: Optional

Time of Compliance: At operator’s discretion

Purpose: Option to use an oil filter as a replacement to the engine’s serial oil
screen.

Background: The STC’d oil filter housing with filter requires a fifty (50) hour
maintenance interval check as opposed to the twenty-five (25)
hour maintenance interval check for the standard oil screen. (See
Aircraft Maintenance Manual chapter 5).

Manpower: It is estimated approximately one (1) man hour will be required to


accomplish this bulletin.

Materials: The following parts kit should be ordered through

(1) ea. STC’d Oil Filter Housing Kit with CH48108-1 Filter
Part number: CL1000 (STC nr: SE01930NY)
Alternative:
(1) ea. STC’d Oil Filter Housing Kit with CH48108-1 Filter
Part number: BC-700 (STC nr: SE00825WI)

(1) ea. Steel reinforced medium pressure hose assembly

Accomplishment Instructions:

1. Remove the cowling in accordance with chapter 71-10-00 from


the aircraft maintenance manual.
2. Identify the oil line, which connects the upper fitting of the oil
separator with the accessory case of the engine.
3. Exchange this hose with the delivered hose assembly Parker
P/N 124012F200C040 (MS8005-H200F040) in accordance
with Figure 1.
4. Remove the Lycoming oil screen.
5. Install the oil filter kit as described in the installation manual
delivered with the STC part.
6. Reinstall the cowling in reverse order.

registration number.
