1. You are teaching in a rural area and you have just received a set of Year 5 English
language final exam paper (refer to attachment) from the state education department.
The exam paper is to be administered to your low proficiency pupils. However, you believe
that the questions are challenging for them and you are worried.
Review the exam paper and explain why you believe that the questions are challenging
for your weak pupils. Suggest ways to improve the questions to suit your pupils’
proficiency level. Justify your answer.

Based on the poster above, construct an assessment task and its scoring method to
assess speaking skill among Year 5 pupils. Justify the use of authentic materials such
as the poster above in the implementation of school-based assessment in Malaysian
primary ESL classroom.
