Types of Quilting: Edge-to-Edge or All-Over

Edge-to-edge and all-over quilting designs work well for scrap quilts and geometric designs, providing texture and customization. All-over designs cover the entire quilt front with freehand patterns that can be mixed or repeated. Custom quilting treats each quilt element differently using various stitches like meandering and feathers around applique, taking more time and costing more than all-over quilting.

Types of Quilting

Edge-to-Edge or All-Over
Many new designs are available to add a wonderful custom touch and texture to your quilt. Edge-to-Edge
and All-Over designs work well with busy scrap quilts, strong geometric mosaic quilts, and others. Many
themes are available to finish your theme fabric quilt. Prices vary according to size and intricacy of
pattern chosen. Hundreds of designs are available.

All-Over Design is completed working from front of machine. The longarm quilter covers the entire quilt
with freehand designs. A mixture of patterns can be used or one pattern repeated over and over. Even
spacing gives a balanced design on the quilt.
Custom
Each element of the quilt (block, border, sashing, appliqué) is treated differently. This may employ stitch-
in-the-ditch, meandering, stitching around appliqué, and freehand feathers. Ruler work is usually
involved. Because it is more time consuming, the cost of custom quilting is greater than that of all-over
quilting.
