Introduction
Question #1:
From three different publications, select a printed page. Circle the different blocks of text. Characterize
the types of text used in each block by providing for each page:

• Publication name and page number.


• Which blocks are headlines? What type of font is used? Is it bold? serif? Characterize the text.
How is it spaced?
• Which blocks are body text? What type of font is used? Is it bold? serif? Characterize the text.
How is it spaced?
Question #2:
Visit different web sites. Describe the use of colors for each in subjective terms. Is each site vibrant?
childish? muted? subtle? Why? What cultural or other factors determined the color selection? Print out a
page from each site, and write a paragraph describing the colors and images used in each one.
Question #3:
A sound file with hissing and other unwanted background noises is attached. To normalize the sound file,
you are expected to use Audacity software with a minimal reduction in signal quality and write a
paragraph about the procedures you have followed to eliminate noise.
General instructions:
• You must submit your own work and not results of a group discussion.
• This is an individual assignment, not a group assignment. Your answers should not significantly resemble
your classmates’ work.
• Use proper quotations, citations, and references, where applicable.
• Any number of figures are allowed.
• Write a coherent, concise, and convincing answer.
• Submit your answers in Classroom under “Classwork” tab in a single word/pdf file.
