Position: Education Officer
Number of position: 1 Position
Reports to: Education Coordinator-Lashio
Supervision of: Mobile Trainers
Duty station: Taunggyi, Shan State
Travel: 60 % to field locations
Duration and type of contract: Up to December 2020 (Possibility of Extension)

1. Role and responsibilities
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities
1. Coordinate the education in emergency activities according to strategy, proposals,
budgets and plans
2. Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements
3. Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities
4. Break down the annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly
implementation plans
5. Coordinate with relevant partners and actors
6. Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are
timely and according to procedures
7. Coordinate with the training team
8. Prepare periodic progress reports, statistics and other documents as required
9. Investigate and facilitate introduction of new technology, methods and approaches in
order to improve the quality of the activities
Specific responsibilities
Implement the education in emergency activities (excluding trainings) and report on the
progress. activities include (but not limited to) distribution of teaching and learning material
in-kind, cash/ voucher, supporting school rehabilitation/ construction aligned with NRC
safe schools’ policy/ conducting education needs forming youth networks, inclusion
activities
Deliver immediate EiE activities and services in collaboration with other teams such as EiE
Trainers/Facilitators and EiE Coordinator.
Keep up to date records of education needs and gaps by conducting assessments and via
networking in order to direct EiE intervention in line with identified needs at field level in
Kachin

Provide support to the EiE colleagues according to identified needs and workloads as
directed by Education Coordinator/ IPM.
Schedule and participate in implementation, running and follow-up of the project including
monitoring and evaluation, teaching methodologies.
Actively promote the Right to Education even in emergencies, with an understanding of
Protection and Child Protection principles.
Ensure that all administrative and logistical tasks are promptly and correctly completed.
Represent NRC in local and national meetings when requested, and promote exchange of
information with relevant external actors.
Ensure proper evaluation of all education activities.
Deliver education program propose training and records and report the progress
Act as interpreter when required and translate documents as needed.
Undertake any other duties, not listed above, assigned by the Project Manager in order to
improve and facilitate implementation of the project.

departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:

2. Competencies
Competencies are important in order for the employee and the organisation to deliver desired

These are skills, knowledge and experience that are important for effective performance.
Generic professional competencies for this position:
Experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/emergency context
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts,
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Fluency in local languages
Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Expect to abide by Code of Conduct, education and security policies within NRC
Context related skills, knowledge and experience (shall be adapted to the specific position):
Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized university
Experience in implementing humanitarian/ protection/ Education programme
Activities
Knowledge of INEE Minimum Standard
Advanced English and computer skills, communication skills, adaptable and
resourceful
At least 3 years working experience in with international NGOs, UN agencies
Experience with managing budgets, log frames and work plans
