the planets as they orbit the Sun and the main composition (rock or gas) of the planets.
4.E.3A.2 Obtain and communicate information to describe how constellations (including Ursa
Major, Ursa Minor, and Orion) appear to move from Earth’s perspective throughout the seasons.
Description: This app lesson will develop 4th grade students’ knowledge of planets,
constellations, and the Sun’s orbit.
Instructional Objective: Students will be able to describe a planet in the solar system. Students
will be able to recognize a constellation.
Step 1 Students will be able to view facts and pictures of all the planets. Students can then
choose a planet of their choice and write down the information in their notes.

Step 2 Students will use Google to research more information on their planet. Next, students will
research a constellation of their choice and write the information in their notes.

Step 3 Students will create a presentation on ShowMe Interactive Whiteboard using the
information that they researched. Students will include facts about their planet and constellation.
Students will draw the constellation of their choice.
