Condensate Recovery From HVAC

This document summarizes a project to recover condensate from HVAC systems at a plant. The project aims to [1] reduce energy and water waste by collecting condensate and sending it to a storage tank, [2] save 6,699 GJ of energy per year and reduce carbon emissions by 375 tons per year, and [3] reduce water losses by 17,779 cubic meters per year. The project scope involves installing automatic pump-trap systems to collect condensate from each HVAC unit and send it to a local storage tank. The estimated investment is 2,167,000 Mexican pesos with an annual earnings of 516,000 pesos and a payback period of 4.189 years

10. Condensate recovery from HVAC

1. Project Background
Some of feasible condensate there aren’t recovery from different reasons but the
main reason is the low pressure of discharge. This condensate is diverting to
drains, loosing water and thermal energy. At the same time, increasing water
waste treatment temperature.
2. Project Objectives
Reduce the energy and water wasted by recovering condensate to the condensate tank.
The target is to save 6,699 GJ/year reducing 0.46% the plant energy consumption.

Reduce the carbon footprint in 375ton/year which represent 0.47% of total

contamination.

Reduce water losses 17,779 m3/year which represents 1.7% of total water
consumption.

3. Project Scope
Collect each condensate using anautomatic pump-trap system to send it to local
condensate tank.
It includes:
 Specification
 Selection
 Supply
 Installation.

4. Alternatives considered
Do not collect the condensate and keep the currentwaste.

5. Timing
SpiraxSarco ETS Nestle Cafe Toluca, 05/12/2020

Quotation: 1 week
Equipment delivery: 6 - 8 weeks
Installation: 4 weeks (it’s depend on plant disposal)
Commissioning and training: 02 days
*the interconnections need a day per unit
6. Risk analysis
Low Risk: the proposal is recover condensate and send it to condensate recovery
pipe lines that already exist.

7. Financial

b. Annual earnings [kMXN/year]: 516

c. Payback: 4.189 year

8. Status
ETS proposal

9. Comments
All the implementations must be done without production on process area.
