Vehicle: Holden Commodore VZ
Subject: Programming information
Injectronics can now program a new VZ V6 engine control unit (PCM) with all the customer’s vehicles details.

Providing the customer has the following:

• Appropriate aftermarket scan-tool (check makes & instructions) or/


• Tech2 scan Tool with the ability to get TIS approval,
They can then install the Injectronics pre-programed ECM to the Vehicle. This avoids the need to send a vehicle to a GMH
dealer for variant programing. All that is required is a PCM (ECM) to PIM link with the Tech2 or one of the above mentioned
aftermarket scan tools.
What is required if ordering an exchange PCM:
1. When ordering a VZ V6 PCM , please specify

• Customer’s VIN
• Customer’s Trans type : 4 speed Auto, 5 speed Auto or 6 speed Manual
• If the vehicle is a 5 speed Auto, specify wheel drive type - RWD or AWD
2. Injectronics stock the majority of top selling program variations of the VZ Commodore ECM which have the variants
pre-programmed. If the variation you require is not a stocked line, Injectronics will then program the ECM for you
(after receiving vin number and transmission type). You will be charged for the ECM and a standard programming fee.

3. The Installer will need to complete the following (below examples are programming steps using G Scan scantool)
IMPORTANT: DONT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL THE REPLACEMENT ECM WITHOUT RESETTING (UNLOCKING) THE OLD ECM FIRST
If your vehicles 4 digit security code begins with a zero (0) & it fails to link to the ECM you will need to send your ECM to
Injectronics along with your PIM, BCM & key for programming otherwise PIM security status will be corrupted & will lock out
future programming attempts.

Procedure to reset (unlock) the old ECM

• Go to Commodore, VZ, Engine, V6, (not to body)


• Select Special Functions,
• Reset ECM, a warning, unable to start the engine will be displayed,
• Press OK or ENTER,
• Enter the 4 digit security code.
• The screen will display the words, procedure successful. However, if the ECM resetting procedure is unsuccessful,
confirm that you have the correct security code & try again, see note.

Procedure to install the replacement ECM

• Go to Commodore, VZ, Engine, V6, (not to body)


• Select Special Functions,
• PIM link to ECM,
• Press OK or ENTER,
• Enter the 4 digit security code.
• The screen will display, procedure successful.
• However, if the procedure is unsuccessful, confirm that you have the correct security code & try again see note.

Please note: The customer has three attempts to enter the correct security code. After 3 incorrect attempts the PIM will go
into a security wait mode.

With further unsuccessful attempts the PIM will enter a locked mode.

The PIM will have to be unlocked if this happens. Return the ECM, BCM, PIM & the ignition key to Injectronics to have the
PIM unlocked & have the PIM & ECM linked. A fee will be charged for this procedure.
