I.COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course provides the student with the fundamentals and technical knowledge needed for proper fire
scene interpretations, including recognizing and conducting origin and cause, preservation of evidence and
documentation, scene security, case law and constitutional amendment, motives of the fire setter and types of fire
causes.

II. Course Intended Learning Outcomes:

At the end the term the student should be able to:

1. Understand the methods of collection and analysis of fire scene data.


2. Be familiar with determining the origin and the cause of fire.
3. Understand the fire investigators legal responsibilities related to intentionally set fires.
4. Understand the issues the fire investigator must address to property and legally document cases related to
intentionally set fire.
5. Understand how fire scene data is used to developed fires code and standards in the interest of reducing fire
losses and loss of life due to fire.

Teaching Strategies:

Every class has learning teaching strategy applicable to the lesson for the day. Generally, students should have to
connect to messenger classroom for attendance, presentation of topics, and provided a learning module and answer
the worksheet provided. The instructor is also expected to have review of the past lessons, motivation,
generalizations, valuing and application before, during and after the discussion.

Assessment:
Varied evaluation strategies will be utilized to document learning achieved in this course. One hundred
percent (100%) is the highest point one can earn based on the following parameters:
Class Attendance/ Assignment - 20%
Quizzes - 40%
Major Examination - 40%

Grading System:
1.0 = 97 – 99 Excellent

1.25 = 94 – 96 Superior

1.5 = 91 – 93 Very Good

1.75 = 88 – 90 Very Good

2.0 = 85 – 87 Good

2.25 = 82 -84 Good

2.5 = 79 – 81 Fair

2.75 = 76 – 78 Fair

3.0 = 73 – 75 Passing

5.0 = 68 -72 Failed

Class Requirement:

Students are required to have of their own module and answer the worksheet given by the instructor and
pass to the email account.

On Attendance:

Absences without prior notification to the teacher are not considered excused. In emergency cases, medical
certificates may be presented for students admitted to hospitals to be excused.
