Q.1. What kind of research strategy will it be opting?
Ans. In todays scenario global market are expanded a lot and brand shifting are common
now a days. To sustain in this type of market company should do the research that what are
the desire of the customer and what customer wants from the company.
In the case of Castrol India Limited they should first go for exploratory research they should
investigate in the market why customers are shifting from one brand to another brand and
why their shares are draining. For that they have to observe what other companies are
doing, and what strategy are they applying so that the customers are shifting from their
brand to them and they should conduct some kind of survey so that they should know what
customer wants from their company, they can conduct interview on offline or online to
connect their customer directly. Also, they can collect secondary data from online sources,
case studies, newspaper etc. This research gives the company qualitative information for the
quantitative information they should do the descriptive research. For descriptive research
they should select a population of the lubricant consumer and do the survey among them,
conduct interviews for that they should visit petrol pumps, shop who sold their product the
customer who are willing to buy their lubricant and ask them what they want from any
lubricant company. So that they get an idea what other companies are offering to the
customer and why the customers are shifting from their brand to another brand.

Ans. Company should follow these steps for business research programme:
Step 1 Identifying the problem: First Castrol should identify the problem why sale of their
products is less in market, what are they missing in their strategy and other company are
applying in their strategy, how other lubricant company are growing rapidly, why their
market shares are draining.
Step 2 Preparing the Research Design: They should plan that where they go to collect the data, what
type of data required for their research and what will be the cost of the research.
Step 3 Determining the Sample Design: They should determine the population for their research.
They should also determine the technique or the procedure of collecting the data from their
population so that they give more dependable information so that there will be less effort is taken in
collecting data and should be the less wastage of time and money.
Step 4 Collecting of Data: Castrol should collect the data from surveys, online interview, telephonic
interview, face to face interview, provide questionnaire online sources, case studies, newspaper etc.
Step 5 Processing, Analysis and Interpretation of Data: After collecting the data from various sources
they should interpret the data according to them so that they get information for their products
sale.
Step 6 Preparation of the Report: After following all the steps mentioned above, they should
prepare a report of the research stating the findings of the research they conducted.
