Describe Three Common and Mark Recognition Devices

The document discusses digital cameras, common mark recognition devices, webcams, basic design types, and voice recognition systems. It notes that digital cameras use image sensors instead of film and have more complex processors than traditional cameras. It describes three common mark recognition technologies: magnetic ink character recognition (MICR), optical mark recognition (OMR), and optical character recognition (OCR). It defines a webcam as a small video camera that captures images and sends them to a computer over the internet. It also explains that basic design includes input and output designs, with input converting user formats and output providing information to users. Finally, it describes voice recognition systems as software that can decode human speech and perform commands without keyboards or buttons.

Activity 4 (Module 1)

1. How are digital cameras different from traditional cameras?

Digital cameras have a big difference from traditional cameras.

Digital cameras use a multiple-pixel digital censor to record that same
image. Digital cameras also have more complex brain than traditional
cameras while traditional cameras use photographic film to record
visible lights wherein the camera lens focuses light from the scene in
front of it onto light-sensitive piece of photographic film to form a
latent, unviewable image.

2. Describe three common and mark recognition devices.

 MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition)

 t is a special scanner that reads the characters printed with
magnetic ink and converts them into digital signals. these
signals are then input to the computer for further
processing.

 OMR (Optical Marks Recognition)

 This device is used to read handwritten marks or symbols
printed on the paper.it uses a light beam to scan the marks
and converts them into digital signals. These signals are
then input to the computer for further processing.

 OCR (Optical Character Recognition)

 These devices read preprinted characters in a particular
font and converts them into digital code. the characters
printed on paper may be typewritten or handwritten.in case
of hand written, the characters must be of standard size.
but in case of typewritten, the characters must have the
special type font called an OCR font
3. What is webcam?
Webcam is a specialized digital video camera that capture images
and send them to a computer for broadcast over the internet. Also,
webcam is typically small cameras that sit on a desk, attach to a
user’s monitor, or are built into the hardware.
4. Describe the two basic design.
The two basic designs are the input and output design. Input
design is the process of converting user-originated input format to a
computer based format while the output is the most important &
direct source of information to the user. The system is accepted by the
user only by the quality of its output. If the output is not of good
quality, the user is likely to reject the system. Therefore, an effective
output design is the major criteria for deciding the overall quality of
the system.

5. What are voice recognition systems?

Voice recognition or speech recognition is a software characterized

by the capability to decode human speech. Also, they are used to
perform command,s, write without having the use of keyboard, mouse
or having to use any buttons.
