EWM - Extended Ware House Management

EWM is SAP's Extended Warehouse Management system used to manage warehouse activities like picking, putaway, and storage bin management. It requires two connected systems, SAP ECC and SAP SCM - EWM. In SAP S/4HANA 1610, SCM is integrated with ECC so only one system is needed. EWM terminology includes putaway, picking, ASN, unloading, loading, handling units, nested handling units, and storage bins.

EWM - Extended Ware house management

System Requirements: Two separate systems are required to implement EWM

solution.
1.     SAP ECC
2.     SAP SCM – EWM

These two systems are connected through qRFC.

EWM can be used as a standalone system – from 9.0 version
EWM – Latest version is 9.4. From the version 9.2 to till now there are no
major changes.
In S4 HANA 1610 – SCM is Integrated with ECC. Hence, we would be using just
one system for ECC and SCM.
