DEFINITION

News item text is a text which inform readers about events of the day
PURPOSE

The communicative purpose of this type of text is to inform readers, listeners or viewers
about events or incidents that are considered important or newsworthy.
GENERIC STRUCTURE

1. Main event
This section is also known as the newsworthy event . This part is the part that tells or shows news about
the event or events that core is usually written in the form of a summary ( summary )
2. Background event
The part that is often referred to as Elaboration is the part that tells the background of the event or
incident, who is involved and the location of the incident.
3. Source
The last part is the source , which tells about comments, witnesses to events, opinions of experts, and so
on regarding the events or incidents that are reported.
LANGUAGE FEATURES

•Brief information contained in the headline


•Focus on an event
•Dominant uses the saying verbs , such as being reported, excused, said, preached, and
so on.
•Generally use action verbs , which are verbs that indicate activity
•Often use auxiliary verbs to denote time and place
•Using process material

The Central Jakarta administration will dismantle more than 100 billboards with expired
permits.The administration will ask the Central Jakarta Taxation and Fees Agency to validate
the findings.The removal of the billboards will be organized when the data is validated.The
