POSITION TITLE: OPERATOR

REPORTS TO: LEAD HAND / SUPERVISOR

DEPARTMENT: MANUFACTURING

LOCATION: SHOP FLOOR

JOB SUMMARY: Operates a variety of machine tools and CNC machining centers to cut, machines metal
and similar materials into parts or products, performing precise measurements.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:

Education: Very min grade 10 or equivalent.


Experience: At least six months experience and knowledge of a working metal manufacturing
environment.
Skills: Good organizational skills.
Ability to work with limited supervision.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Cleans and maintains machine, tooling and parts to keep equipment in optimal production condition.
 Keeps work areas clean and organized.
 Works safety to prevent on-the-job injuries following all safety regulations.
 Inspects cutting tools for sharpness and usability.
 Observes machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions or
out-of-tolerance machining, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometer, caliper,
height gauge or other gauges. Adjust machine to control part process.
 Performs “In-process inspection” at required frequency throughout the production run, consults with
quality assurance for out of tolerance machining.
 Exercises care to ensure the equipment is performing as required, assuring quality and safety.
