OPERATIONAL CONTROL PROCEDURE FOR NOISE Date : 02-05-2020
MONITORING

1. PURPOSE: To control the level of noise generated from the Shop floor while operation,
due to Compressed air, DG set areas

2. SCOPE: Applicable to all the areas generating noise with in the factory premises

3. RESPONSIBILITY: Engineer – Maintenance and Maintenance team

4. INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Providing and ensuring earplugs and earmuffs for all the operator working in
the Area of operation.
2. Ensuring required amount of air pressure is used in the area of compressed air
cleaning.
3. Visual aid for the usage of earmuffs should be displayed in the area of
operation.
4. Measure the noise generated in the area. Initiate appropriate measures in case
heavy Noise / abnormal noise is observed in the area
5. Ensure proper guards are provided for the machine to reduce noise
6. Periodical maintenance should be given to the machine to seek their good
condition
7. Metal to metal contact should be controlled by providing rubber pads in the
vibrating machines
8. Fugitive emission should be controlled by guards
9. Proper PPE like nose mask should be used during operations where fumes and
smoke is generated.
10. If any abnormalities observed by the operator in the machine leading to
abnormal noise or emission to air, it should be intimated to responsible person
immediately to take corrective action

6. IMPACT IN CASE OF DEVIATION:

1. When Operator exposed to the noise of 90decibel >8 hours

*Long term effect: Deafness


*Short term effect: loosing concentration, inducing headache, discomfort

7. CORRECTIVE ACTION IN CASE OF DEVIATION:

1. Replacing the existing pneumatic gun/servicing the gun in case of abnormal


noise.
2. Providing medical attention to the operator.
3. Instructing the operator to wear the earplugs
