BAGUIO CATHEDRAL (1920-1945)

Construction of the cathedral itself began in 1920 under the leadershipo f the parish priest ,Rev Florimond
Carlu , who renamed the hill mount mary . The building was completed and consecrated in 1936. it was
dedicated to Our Lady of Attonement.

During the seconf wprld war, the cathedral was an evacuation centre, and it withstood the carpet-bombing of
baguio by allied forces during liberation on march 1945.

BAGUIO CITY HALL (1911)

Built on a combination of concrete and wood, the structure that houses Baguio’s City Government was constructed in 1949-
1950.The current City Hall replaced a previous structure built in 1910 during the term of E.W. Reynolds, first city mayor, that
was destroyed during World War II in 1945.

Built in 1911, the city hall was designed with some resemblance to the elegant European Half-timber
architectural style.at the center of the building was a porch where one could view Burnham Park and the
Government center directly across the valley.

Post-war City Hall, an all-new reinforced concrete structure was inaugurated in 1950.

Burnham created in Baguio a road system unique to the nature of the city’s site which ventured
where possible to provide sight lines towards the municipal government buildings, and the national
government edifices.

DIPLOMAT HOTEL
ts history dates back to 1911 when it was constructed as a retreat house by the Dominican Order in
a 17-hectare land previously belonging to Americans. 

From its inauguration in 1915 and for 2 years it was used as a college "Collegio del Santissimo
Rosario", but due to lack of students it was converted back to a retreat house. During World War II,
the building gave refuge to people fleeing from the Japanese who bombed it and its surroundings. 

Built in 1913 and inaugurated in May 1915

SESSION ROAD (1904)

The Philippine Commission was the body appointed by the President of the United States of America
to exercise legislative and limited executive powers during its occupation of the Philippines. The First
Philippine Commission was appointed by President William McKinley in 1899, but it was the Second
Philippine Commission, constituted in 1901, that held its sessions in Baguio City.
