UNIT -1
1. Define Quality.
Ans: Quality is extremely hard to define, and it is simply stated: "Fit for use or purpose." It is
all about meeting the needs and expectations of customers with respect to functionality,
design, reliability, durability, & price of the product.
2. What is known as Quality Control?
Ans: Quality control (QC) is a procedure or set of procedures intended to ensure that a
manufactured product or performed service adheres to a defined set of quality criteria or
meets the requirements of the client or customer.
3. Write short notes on Quality Assurance.
Ans: Quality Assurance (QA) is defined as an activity to ensure that an organization is
providing the best possible product or service to customers. QA focuses on improving the
processes to deliver Quality Products to the customer. An organization has to ensure, that
processes are efficient and effective as per the quality standards defined for products. Quality
Assurance is popularly known as QA Testing

the quality of a product

Ans: Quality management is the act of overseeing different activities and tasks within
an organization to ensure that products and services offered, as well as the means used to
achieve them, are consistent. It helps to achieve and maintain a desired level of quality within
the organization.
6. What is quality cost?
Cost of quality (COQ) is defined as a methodology that allows an organization to determine
the extent to which its resources are used for activities that prevent poor quality, that
appraise the quality of the organization’s products or services, and that result from internal
and external failures. Having such information allows an organization to determine the
potential savings to be gained by implementing process improvements.
