DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ORAL COMMUNICATION

At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:

a. Define and identify the elements and nature of communication;


b. Participate actively in group discussion; and
c. Value the importance of the elements and nature of
communication.

A. PREPARATION

a. Prayer

“Lets us all stand for a short prayer.”

b. Greetings

“Good Afternoon, Class!”

c. Checking of cleanliness

“Before you take your sit, kindly pick some


pieces of paper under your chair.”

2. Review of the past lesson/


presenting new lesson

“Let’s start are day with a simple recall


activity. Who can tell me about our main topic
last Friday?”

“Very Good. Communication. Who can tell


something about communication?”

“Okay. When we say communication , it is


derived from the latin word “Communis”
which means to transmit, to share and to
convey.
Any question, before we proceed to our group
activity?”

Activity 1 PASS THE MESSAGE


(2 Minute activity)

Directions
1. Group yourself into 5 groups.
2. Assigned a leader to get the strip of
paper inside the box.
3. Whisper the given paragraph to your
classmate in the front until it reaches
the first person in the line.
4. Write the accurate sentences on the
board. The group that will finish first
in 2 min. will have 5 points in quiz.

idea about elements of communication?

“Group 1Come here in the front. In our


activity a while ago, which one of them is the
speaker or the source of information?

“How about the encoding? The one who


convert the message?

The channel? The one who convey the


message?

The decoding? The one who interpret the


message?

“The receiver and the one who receives the


message?

What is the feedback? Is the response of the


receiver is accurate or not? Why?

Therefore, if the situation is not applicable,


what will happen?

Very Good. It will have barriers that affect


the flow of communication.

Again, what are the elements of


communication? Differentiate each of
elements.

Any questions? None, then let’s proceed to


the nature of elements.

Nature of Elements
1. Communication is a process.
2. Communication is an interaction.
3. Communication can be expressed
through written or spoken word(non-
verbal) or both spoken words and
verbal actions at the same time.

Group 1 – make a tableau of a family whose


attention is only watching television. One
person taps for poor reception.

Group 2- Present a pantomime of teachers


discussing with students.

Group 3- sing the song “ Hello by adelle”

Group 4- Role playing pretend you are


students asking your teacher.

Group 5- Role play a girlfriend broke up with


his boyfriend on phone.
