Getting Started with Adobe Connect

Whether you’re new to it or already familiar with Adobe Connect Meeting, this guide will help
you to navigate the software, set up classrooms, and improve your skills to get the most out of

the virtual learning environment.


Getting Started with Adobe Connect

How to use this guide.


The first section of this guide will review basic navigation and use of Adobe Connect Central
and meeting rooms.

There are four activities you can complete at your own pace:

1. Create a meeting

2. Identify meeting components

3. Configure a meeting

4. Upload meeting files

You’ll also find a set of resources to Manage Breakout Rooms and to Learn more about Adobe
Connect Meeting.

If you’re new, start from the beginning. Work through each section to increase your familiarity
and comfort with Adobe Connect meeting.

If you have Adobe Connect experience, jump to the section(s) you need.

The Learn more section is filled with useful resources to further your Adobe Connect meeting
skills no matter your experience level.

Adobe Connect Central Navigation


Adobe Connect Central is a web-based portal that allows you to create and manage meetings and
upload content that you want to use in your meetings.

You must be a registered user to login to Adobe Connect Central. You can access the portal at:
https://dhsocpo.adobeconnect.com

After you login, your Home tab displays the list of your meetings.

Content Area
From here you can add content to and manage content in your content
library. 

Content can be shared directly in a meeting room; however, it can be helpful


to load content into Adobe Connect Central. 

If you are the only one that will use that content, then load it to under My
Content. If you want other meeting hosts to be able to see and use content
that you load into Adobe, then you should load it into the Shared Content
area.

Here are some situations where loading content in the Shared Content Area
is helpful:

 Other meeting hosts will use the same content


 The files are large and will take time for Adobe to process
 You want to load content without being in a meeting room

Upload meeting files


Sharing files can happen before and during a meeting. You can adjust file permissions to allow
learners to view and/or download files uploaded.

This activity will insert you into a real-world scenario where you will practice uploading files for
a meeting room, during a training session, and with varying permissions.

Meeting Space
This is where you manage the meetings you own and share. Create folders to organize your
meetings. You can use this area edit meeting details and set meeting permissions.

This lesson will walk through the process to create a meeting. Tips for creating a meeting that
meets various needs are also included.

Meeting Room Navigation


This is the default layout of a meeting room. The Layouts and Pods menus allow you to add
other functionality to your meetings like whiteboards and polls.

Identify Components in
Adobe Connect
This is a navigation activity that will allow
learners to identify and define the following
components of an Adobe Connect meeting:

1. Layouts
2. Audio Conferencing
3. Recording Meetings
4. Presenter Only Area
5. Prepare Mode

Use your own version of Adobe Connect to practice configuring a meeting room. This is a
guided activity.

If you need it, extra practice exercises are available. These do not provide guidance but allow
you to explore setting up meeting rooms to meet different needs in a real-world scenario.
