Seed co limited is an innovative company specialized in the breeding multiplication and distribution of
mainly hybrid seed varieties for various crops, such as: maize, wheat, soya beans, sugar beans, cowpeas,
sorghum, groundnuts and vegetables.
As Seed Co is focused on quality, their products are known for their immunity, tolerance and resistance for
drought, pests and diseases. The company belongs to one of the leading companies in the African seed
market and their target market is geared towards farmers. Seed Co managed to stay competitive due to their
diversity of products meant to suit the farmers in different ecological conditions, high performing hybrids
are provided at an affordable cost. In addition, the company has been innovative in organizing funding
structures for seeds purchase, which has enabled farmers to continue accessing high quality seed.  

Seed Co currently operates in 15 countries in Eastern and Southern Africa, with a desire for expansion. As
they predict a staggering growth in the African population in the upcoming years, they anticipate huge
business potentials they fully intend to realize. Therefore, their business goal is to dominate the
Agroindustry by expanding their brand across Africa.

 Seeds that are imported to South Sudan come from competitors in nearby countries (Ethiopia &
Uganda)
o Seed Co has in Ethiopia and Uganda production locations. Specifically Uganda’s production
location is close to the border with South Sudan.
 After a long war, South Sudan is finally a stable country, which makes it feasible to be accessed
o Seed Co can be one of the first big companies investing in South Sudan (seed market) and
establishing a strong position and be ahead of competition.
 Seed Co will make another step in fulfilling their mission in feeding the African people, which will
contribute to the strengthening of their brand.
 At the moment the quality of the available seed is poor
 They have had high environmental issues which could create a high demand for hybrid seeds
Possible pitfalls & solutions
 Problem 1 – farmers have no money to buy seeds
 Solution – the company promotes itself as being innovative in organizing funding structures for
seeds purchase, which has enabled farmers to continue accessing high quality seed.  
 Problem 2 – No trust in the seeds
 Solution – Seed Co provides training and also has options for insurances for the farmers
 Problem 3 – logistics – bad infrastructure
