1) The document describes an experiment to visualize sound waves using a speaker, plastic wrap, and MSG grains. Loud sounds from the speaker cause the plastic wrap and MSG grains to vibrate, allowing students to "see" sound. 2) Key materials needed are a container, plastic wrap, MSG, and a speaker. The plastic wrap is stretched over the container and MSG is sprinkled on top. Loud music is played near the plastic wrap, causing the MSG grains to dance due to vibrations. 3) This experiment demonstrates that sound is caused by vibrations which can be transferred through solids, liquids, and gases. Loud sounds from the speaker vibrate the plastic wrap and air,

INTRODUCTION

In our daily life, we have conversation amongst ourselves. We hear the chirping of the
birds or horn of the vehicles or mewing of the cat. They are of so many types, tones, and
levels of sound. In fact, we can recognize a person by just his or her voice. We use sound
waves in talking, while electromagnetic radio waves in sending voice through the radio set or
telephone.

MATERIAL

1) big container

2) plastic wrap

3) MSG

4) speaker

METHODS

1) Tear a piece of plastic wrap big enough to cover the top of the container.

2) Secure the plastic wrap and make sure the plastic wrap is tight.

3) Pour a little MSG on the plastic wrap.

4) Hold speaker next to the plastic wrap.

5) Play a song in full volume to see the vibration of the MSG make by the sound.
RESULTS

Loud sounds can make nearby objects vibrate. When you place the bowl next to a
speaker, vibrations in the speaker moved through the air and reached the plastic wrap. These
vibrations cause the grains of salt to dance.

DISCUSSION

Sounds come from things that vibrate. The faster they vibrate the higher the sound
they produce. When things vibrate faster than about 25 vibrations per second we begin to
hear a sound of very low pitch. As things vibrate faster the pitch of the sound rises Even the
best human ear can no longer hear sounds when the source of the sound is vibrating faster
than about 20,000 vibrations per second. The pitch of a sound is not connected to the volume
of the sound. As the human ear ages it becomes less sensitive and its frequency range
reduces.Sound travels through solids, liquids and gases at different speeds. The sound spreads
out from the source in the same way as ripples do on water after a stone is thrown into it. As
a result of this spreading out the sound striking our ear at a distance is much less intense than
it is close to the source. This is why sounds become quieter as we walk away from them and
louder as we approach. The human ear detects vibrations that strike the ear drum and
converts these into nerve signals that travel to the brain.

CONCLUSION

Sound is the energy things produce when they vibrate . When you play a song with
full volume, you disturb the particles of the pot causing them to vibrate. The vibrations from
the speaker are transferred to the air surrounding it, make particle in the air collide with each
other with high speed. It is same goes with our hearing. It will alos make air inside ours ear to
start vibrate and end up to our eardrum.
