"Lab Report No 1" Electrical Network Analysis

This lab report summarizes an introduction to using PSPICE simulation software. It describes how to install PSPICE and place components like voltage sources and resistors on a schematic. It then discusses simulating series and parallel circuits in PSPICE and comparing the theoretical and simulated voltage and current values. For a series circuit with a 12V source and 1kΩ and 500Ω resistors, the report shows the theoretical and simulated current is 8mA and the voltages across each resistor are 8V and 4V respectively. For a parallel circuit with the same 12V source and 250Ω and 500Ω resistors, the theoretical and simulated currents are 40mA and 20mA.

Lab no 1:
Introduction to PSPICE:

How to use pspice:

1.first install pspice

2.search schematics in menu and open schematics.

3.as schematics open press ctrl-g to open part browser basic

4.from here you can pick any electrical device

5. for Dc source write VDC and then click place and close

6. for resister press r and then press place and close

And so on for other device

Department of electrical engineering introduction to PSPICE

SERIES CIRCUIT:

1.take a vdc source and two resistor by clicking ctrl-g and press close and place;
2.draw wire and connect all the component in series.

3.then click ctrl-g and take ground by typing egnd and place the ground

4. and also place a voltage marker or level marker

5. now you circuit is complete and press simulate.

5. and then press voltage and current bias display

And the current and voltage will show in circuit.

Before simulation.

After simulation.

theotatically

Vs=12V

is in series circuit currunt is same so

I1=I2=Is = 8.00mA
so Req=R1+R2=1000+500

Req=1500 ohm

VS=ISReq
Is=Vs/Req = 12V/1500ohm = 8.00mA

Is=8.00mA

Now to find voltage drop across each resister.

R1=1000ohm

v1 = 8V
Department of electrical engineering introduction to PSPICE

So V1=I1R1 = 8.00mA* 1K ohm= 8V v1 = 8V

Now voltage across R2 is V2

V2 = I2*R2 =8.00 mA*0.5 k ohm = 4V

V2 = 4 V
compare theoraticall value with PSpice Now .
V1 =12V-4V= 8V
Also from p spice V1= 8V
Now V2= 4V-0V=4V
Also from V2= 2v

Parrllel circuit:
Now in ps spice draw a parrallel circuit.
Department of electrical engineering introduction to PSPICE

Theoratically;

In parallel circuit Vs = V1= V2= 12V

SO VS=12Volt

Req=R1R2/ R1+R2 SO Req = 250*500/250+500 = 125000/750 = 166.66 ohm

Req=166.66 ohm

I1=V1/R1 =10V/250=0.04 V OR 40.0mA

I1=40.0mA

I2=V2/R2 = 10V/500 =0.02 A OR 20.00mA

I2 = 20.00mA
