SF10 and SF16

This document provides a design summary for aluminum openings SF10 and SF16 at a retail project in Beau Plan. It outlines codes and material properties, and summarizes the design of transoms T1 and T2 and mullion M1. While the transoms meet capacity and deflection requirements, the calculation found the actual bending moment on the mullion exceeds its moment capacity, so further design is needed.

5.0 Design Philosophy

We have undertaken the design of the openings referenced SF10 and SF16.

The design philosphy adopted is as follows:

1. Check for the Moment Capacity of the Section > Ultimate Applied Bending Moment on the Section considered
2. Check that the Actual Deflection < Permissible Deflection
3. Check the connection of the bolts for the most critical reaction for the Mullion

6.0 The Building

The Building is a retail project at Beau Plan and shall comprise of retail shops and the maximum of the openings is 3.750m.

7.0 Client Requirements

As confirmed by client,
1.The double leaf door shall not be taken into consideration in the design Calculation.
2. The openings are internal and shall be designed for a crowd loading only.
