Siquijor is ever popular as being an idyllic small island getaway for those who appreciate nature at its purest,
for hikers and bikers, and lovers of the ocean
Another reason to visit Siquijor is because the island is beautiful. You can easily be bewitched with its white
sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and laidback vibe. Personally I'd like to spend more time enjoying its
beaches and the crystal clear waters that is so alluring!
In Vigan, you can for sure follow the list of must-see places, but what we found to be the best, was
to walk around and observe the way how the city was formed as it also reflects history and
demography of Vigan.
It is interesting to watch how streets and architecture slowly change from the colonial, European-
like to the Chinese and Filipino-like buildings in the rest of the town.
Firstly, Vigan is the best-preserved planned Spanish colonial city in Asia and is a part of the UNESCO World
Heritage List; secondly, the cobblestone streets of well-restored Calle Crisologo are traffic free which is such a
relief when traveling in Asia so you can focus only on sightseeing
Matukad Island is one of the small tropical islands that make up Caramoan. Its fine white sands and deep
blue waters are irresistible to the eyes and is perfect for swimming, scuba diving and snorkelling. Also on
the island is a steep rock formation that is home to the Hidden Lagoon
I can say that this place a good site for camping. This island has the longest shore and there are plenty of trees
that can provide tourists shade from heat of the sun
Magellan’s Cross holds a very big part of the history of Cebu. It is believed to be a Christian cross
planted by the Portuguese and Spanish explorers headed by Ferdinand Magellan. It was planted upon
their arrival in Cebu on March 15, 1521. That day also marked the birth of Christianity in the land.
The original cross was believed by the people of old to have miraculous healing powers so they
started chipping it away. Because of that, the government officials was prompted to supposedly
encased it in another wooden cross made from tindalo. It is now housed in a small chapel. Rumors
say though that the original cross was destroyed or disappeared after the death of Magellan.
Today, the cross is housed in an octagonal pavilion called the “kiosk”. It is one of the main attractions for
tourists because it is a part of country’s history. It is preserved to stand that the Philippines is a Christian
country in the southeast Asia.
