3. Ask students what they noticed about the video and follow up with questions.
Development/Teaching Approaches
1. Using a blank Google document, create a list with the class of examples of a
good citizen. Teacher will scribe as students discuss. (keep google doc tab open
for closure)
2. Using the following resource, ask students to determine which picture is
showing good citizenship. For each picture, describe what is going on. After
students answer, explain why each way was good or bad. Explain some
responsibilities of a good citizen (helpful, pays taxes, cleans up, etc).
a. https://www.education.com/download/lesson-plan/what-is-a-good-
citizen/what-is-a-good-citizen.pdf
b. Proceed through all 3 examples.
3. After students go through each 3 examples, Have them use paper or a
whiteboard to represent them doing something a good citizen would do. Have
each student tell a sentence about their picture by typing or speaking.
4. Have students think of a way you can be a good citizen (or student) in school.
Review classroom rules from the year (don't type in the chat box, Listen, show
your work, participate, etc).
5. Provide examples and ask students if this is an act of a good citizen(student) or
not. (thumbs up or down)
a. Jadavin is sleeping while in his math group (not a good student)
b. Connor missed his small group meeting (not a good student)
c. David shows an interested message (good student)
d. Sheilly is showing her math work (good student)
Closure/Summarizing Strategies:
1. Prior to starting a Kahoot, have students give another example of how they can
be good within their community, both within school and reading.
2. Pull up google doc from introduction and ask if the students would want to add
to the list or remove anything.
3. After student discussion, have students play Kahoot to review good citizenship
and qualities good citizens show.
4. After Kahoot leave time for questions.
Accommodations/Differentiation:
1. If students ever struggle coming up with ideas, give teacher examples that relate
to responsibilities of being a good teacher in your community.
