EMC Assignments PDF

This document contains 3 assignments related to calculating transformer efficiency and regulation at different load levels and power factors: 1) Determine efficiency of a 600 kVA 1-phase transformer at 60% load and 0.8 PF lagging, given 92% efficiency at full and half load at unity PF. 2) Calculate full-load regulation at unity, 0.8 PF lagging, and 0.8 PF leading, given 1.8% Cu loss and 3.8% reactance drop at full load. 3) Determine efficiency of a single-phase transformer at 75% of 500 kW full load, given 90% efficiency at half and full load at unity PF.

1. A 600 kVA, 1 − ph transformer has an efficiency of 92% both at full-load

and half-load at unity power factor. Determine its efficiency at 60% of full
load at 0.8 power factor lag.
2. A transformer, when tested on full-load, is found to have Cu loss 1.8%
and reactance drop 3.8%. Calculate its full-load regulation

• at unity p.f.
• 0.8 p.f. lagging
• 0.8 p.f. leading.
3. A single-phase transformer, working at unity power factor has an efficiency
of 90% at both half-load and a full-load of 500 kW. Determine the efficiency
at 75% of full-load.
