UNIT -1

1. a) Analyze and sketch the following the signal operation shown in figure.1: 10

UNIT-2

2. a) Derive expression for convolution integral. 4

UNIT-5

6. a) Find the Z transform of 3n u(-n-1) - 2  (n) - (0.5)n u(n) and specify its ROC, Using 8
the knowledge of signals and systems. What are the properties applicable in finding
such expression.
b) Determine after analyzing the x(n) value by partial fraction method 12
X(Z) = ( Z+1)/( Z2 -3Z + 2) with ROC absolute value of Z is greater than 2. Verify
the result using long division method.

7. a) A banking system is described by a discrete system and represented by difference 10


equation, which follows recursion formula. y(n) - 6 y(n-1) + 9y(n-2) = 4n u(n) with
initial condition y(-1) = 10 and y(-2) = 5.Find the response of the banking system at
15th instant, Using the knowledge of Z transforms only. Verify the results for initial
two instants. Infer the advantage of the generalised expression.
b) State and Prove the following properties of the Z Transforms with Relevant ROCs 10
(i) Time reversal property
(ii) Linearity property
(iii) Time convolution property
