Lesson: 1: Common and Proper Nouns.

• Nouns are naming words for people, places, animals, birds and things.
Kinds of Nouns:-
• Common Nouns – A common noun is the general name given to all persons, places,
animals or things of the same class or kind. Examples: building, road, man, duck etc.
• Proper Nouns – A proper noun is a special name given to a (particular) person, place,
animal or thing. A proper noun always begins with a capital letter. Examples: Rex, Paris,
Monday etc.
• Identify whether these nouns are common or proper.

• Pick out Proper or common noun from the following sentences.

• Rewrite the following sentences capitalizing wherever necessary with correct


punctuations.
