Materials development refers to the design, implementation, and evaluation of language teaching materials. Authentic materials include things like phone messages, radio broadcasts, podcasts, e-books, movies, videos, television programs, and capture real world language use. Non-authentic materials are made specifically for language learning like worksheets, textbooks, and instructional CDs/DVDs. Learning materials for primary students include books, activity sheets, educational kits and TV, while intermediate students use books, activity sheets, worksheets, educational modules and TV. Secondary students use books, activity sheets, worksheets, modules, exemplars and various assessment tools.
