Free Tool for Editing and Proofreading: Grammarly

You can follow these steps to edit, check and proofread the content using Grammarly.

Create a Free Account

Simply search for “Grammarly” in the browser and open the first link. You have to create a free
account for using this tool. Go ahead, and create you’re an account.

Upload the Content

 Once you do this, log into your account where you will find the dashboard on the l eft. In
the center you will see “New” and Upload option. Click on it.
 Now, you can copy paste the content along with the title. Or, you can click on the + sign
on the top left, where you can click on “Upload Document”. Now, select the file from your
computer and click okay.
 Once the file is upload, Grammarly would ask you to “Set Goals”. If you don’t want to set
them, simple click on done.
 But, if you want to check the content by setting goals, click on the most relevant goal for
the content. These goals include Intent, Audience, Style of writing, & Emotion.
 After setting the goals, click on Done, and now Grammarly will show you the errors in
your content.

Correct the Mistakes & Errors

 Grammarly would check the content and suggest you the errors under “All Alerts”. To
correct the mistakes, simply click on them and Grammarly would make the corrections.
 Before correcting these mistakes, you should try to read the content and see if it ’s a
genuine mistake. Sometimes, there will be words in your content that Grammarly won’t
identify such as people’s name so you can ignore these suggestions.
Check Your Performance

 On the right side, you will see “Performance”. Click on it, to see the details like Word
Count, Characters, Words, Sentences. It will also show you the Readability score.
 This report will help. You to understand how well you have written the content and what
areas could be improved. You can download the report.

Save the Edited Document

 After editing the content, you can copy it and save it in a word file or Google docs.
 Click on the downward arrow on the top left, and you will get the options to download,
print and copy the content.

Grammarly would save this file automatically on the dashboard. You can re-check anytime you
want without losing the content that you have uploaded.
