Course Outline
The aim of the course is to build perspective and attitude for scientific enquiry by
creating knowledge and understanding of scientific explanation, elements of research
design and techniques. The course will provide a comprehension of principles and
elements of research design to formulate research problems and research questions and is
geared towards preparing students for carrying forward independent applied research.
The contents are divided into three main modules: Philosophy and Scientific Perspective,
Elements of research design and qualitative research methods (quantitative methods are
explained in separate course). Overall, the course will build interest and perspective of
students to develop and conduct independent scientific research in interdisciplinary
applied studies.

Evaluation Procedure (% of aggregate marks):
