1. HELPS IN ADAPTING TO THE CHANGES OR NEW


ENVIRONMENT
 School guidance counselors help to make learning positive
experiences for every student.

2. MAKING SELF-SUFFICIENT AND INDEPENDENT


This is one of the purposes of guidance and counseling where it helps
the students or individual to become capable of providing his/her
needs and also to helps students to have confidence in their own
ability, for them to become an independent one.

3. EFFICIENT USE OF CAPABILITIES AND TALENT


 As what I have mentioned above the guidance and counseling will
help students to be self-sufficient or shall I say have enough to handle
or manage things and to be independent.

4. PROMOTE THE OPTIMAL PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL


DEVELOPMENT
 When we say optimal it is our most desirable personal and
professional development meaning guidance and counseling will
help the students to develop their personal and professional aspects
in life.

C. BODY

1. Helps in adapting to the changes or new environment

 As we all know, that they are sensitive to individual’s differences. So


a guidance counselor is the one who facilitate communication among
students, especially to the relationship with the other students, for
them to be able to adopt the new environment that they have. So the
purpose of guidance and counseling is to help individual to adopt
changes or new environment by conducting various activities that
will help the students interact with one another. Examples of
activities are intramurals, JS prom and some other activities that will
really help the students to adjust the environment that they have.

2. Making self-sufficient and independent

 Students will become a strong independent one if they will apply


everything that being counsel by their guidance counselor. Sooner or
later if we will become a teacher or a guidance counselor that are our
responsibilities and duties on how we are going to teach or guide our
students for being self-sufficient and becoming an independent one.

3. Efficient use of capabilities and talent

 If they are self-sufficient already of course they are now able to use
their capabilities and talents with the help of the guidance counselor.
As a future teachers we are always a guidance counselor to our
students because we are the one who will help them for them to be
able to use their capabilities and talents as what we have learned last
meeting that one of the best ways to help students to choose their
career is through SURVEY, So as a guidance counselor we must be
sensitive enough to detect or know of what are the capabilities and
talents that our students have and the best thing is that if we let them
or our students explore their wants and needs in life they are efficient
enough to use their capabilities and talents.

4. Promote the optimal personal and professional development

 Guidance counselor will help them to be mature enough in


perceiving things and to look problems always into a positive ways.
So, a life of a teacher or a guidance counselor is not that really an
easy, to handle or guide the students because all of these things are
you needs to apply to them. If we will become a teacher or a
guidance counselor soon we all have that kind of perseverance,
passion, and dedication in order for our students to learn not just in
academic aspects but also by molding their behaviors because I truly
believe that the success of our students is also depends on us, as their
teacher on how we are going to teach and guide them to the right
direction in their lives.

D. CONCLUSION
The Purpose of Guidance and Counseling is to really help the
students in molding not just their abilities and talents but also their
behaviors because sometimes it is on the teacher having the big
impact to the students success; on how they are going to guide and
counsel specially in achieving their dreams and goals in their lives in
the future. But it is also on the parents who played a big role in
nurturing and molding the behaviors of the students because they
will become the first teacher before anything else. Even our family,
relatives, brothers, sisters and best friends will became our guidance
and counselors because sometimes they will become our sources of
advices and we have to listen of all their opinions, suggestions or
advices because not all the time you are in the right truck of your
decisions sometimes you needed also the guidance and counselors to
clear up things into your mind. Because we are just humans that
commit mistakes and nothing of us are perfect and we need the other
people to comfort with. Also I think we have this guidance and
counseling intended for the people who needs guidance and
counseling.

E. RECOMMENDATIONS

As an educator we should continue to promote the conceptual


shift from school guidance to student development. The rationale for this
shift is that the term student-development emphasizes the outcome toward
which we are working rather than the services required to deliver that
outcome because we are truly looking for the development of the students
and to help them to have a right direction of life and that is the purpose of
guidance.
