1.How does additional body weight affect physical status?

It affects the way the client views themselves. Gaining more weight than intended may
cause the client to become ashamed of their body image which in return may cause them
to become depressed and lack the motivation to lose weight. However, it could also
motivate them to lose weight and change the bad habits they have acquired to begin
living a healthier lifestyle.

2.What are some of the barriers and challenges to losing weight in the U.S.?
Barriers and challenges to losing weight in the U.S. include: larger portion sizes, easier
access to fast food restaurants, jobs that don’t require much physical activity, sedentary
leisure time, fast-paced lifestyle, stress, and lack of motivation to workout

3.Discuss cultural considerations when discussing weight and weight loss with clients.
culture has an even greater influence than biology on eating habits and attitudes toward
food and body weight.  If you grew up with eating habits based on ethnic or other cultural
traditions, those practices may be strongly affect your actual life style. The types of foods
you choose, how you prepare them, the seasonings you add, when you eat, how much
you eat, and how much you think you should weigh, can all have great social meaning if
you strongly identify with your culture.

 What would you suggest to help Mark achieve a healthy weight? we can explain that


Weight loss is burning more calories than you take in. You can do that by reducing extra
calories from food and beverages, and increasing calories burned through physical
activity.
