Critical Approaches
There are many people to place blame on for the death of Romeo and Juliet. It was
a situation where their own impulsiveness played a major role but others meddling
in their lives and constant feuding was a huge part of it as well. The feuding of the
Capulet's and Montague's, the meddling of Friar and Nurse, and Romeo and
Juliet's habit of reacting without thinking were the major reasons of their own
death.
The families often feuding was also no help to Romeo and Juliet's
situation. That is the only reason they had to keep it a secret, right? Tybalt's hate
for Romeo was obvious when his statement was made to Capulet. "Uncle this is a
Montague, our foe, a villain that has neither come in spite, to scorn at our
solemnity this night." (I, V, 60-63) Though it wasn't expressed as much the
Montague's despised the Capulet's as they did them. Mercutio states before his
death that all of the fighting between the two families has been nonsense and it
must stop. "A plague a' both houses! I am sped, is he gone and hath nothing?" (III,
I, 88-89)
Without Friar Laurence's and the Nurse's help it's obvious whether good
or bad many things would have never happened and perhaps there would have
been a very different outcome.
Biographical Approaches : William Shakespeare was born in England, in an area
called Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564 and died there in 1616. As long as
Shakespeare was not considered a writer, he was never even mentioned as a
writer. In novel romeo and juliet Shakespeare uses dramatic structures.
Keywords, and tragedies, words, and characters, and the use of sub-plots to
annotate the story, have been hailed as one of Shakespeare's earliest drama marks.
The drama comes in various shapes, and characters, which sometimes change the
path of character development. For example Romeo is increasingly adept in the
composition of sonnets during the story progresses.
Generic Approaaches : The author's intention to tell the tragic love story between
two human beings and to give some of the values contained in the novel in order
to be a meaningful lesson
Textual Approaches : Romeo and Julia were originally a tragic romance in ancient
times. The story of Romeo and Julia is based on the story in Italy, transformed
into poems in The Tragical History of Romeus and Juliet by Arthur Brooke in
1562, and retold in prose to William Painter's 1582 Fun Palace of William
Shakespeare borrowing ideas from both, but rather developed supporting
characters, especially Mercutio and Paris, to expand the storyline. Written
between 1591 to 1595, Romeo and Julia were first performed in 1597. the novel
contains some words and meanings that are difficult to understand in the original
version.
Social Value : A true friend will reveal a problem with us, help to help between
one and the other, willing to sacrifice (Harmonie G.).
Educational Value : We can not give up and be persistent in pursuing our goals.
Whatever happens, we must continue what we have started, despite many trials
and obstacles. We must be sure, because confidence is the strength in the face of
obstacles. If you fail never give up and try again.
Religion Value : Devoted to the Christian religion because it was found like a
Christmas festival in the novel.
Culture Value : Culture abroad, there are many ways like Halloween.
Moral Values : Sometimes we have to do our best to get what we want most,
Don’t judge a person from the outward appearance, finish what you started.
