COURSE MATERIALS
1. TEXT BOOK: COMPUTER ACCOUNTING WITH QUICKBOOKS 2018 BY DONNA KAY.
Make sure to buy the text book with the License and Product Numbers Card to
register to McGraw Hill Connect. Connect is the platform used to do everything in this
course (reading, video, assignments, exams etc…).
2. You have the option of buying a Connect access code for the course, which will allow
you to access Connect and the e-book. Refer to the Student Registration Details PDF
3. Connect also allows you to register for free for a couple weeks only, so that you have
the time to figure which options you prefer and decide what you want to do. Go to
www.mheducation.com/connect or refer to the Student Registration Details PDF.
4. You need to install and register QuickBooks Accountant Desktop 2018 for the class. Go
to www.My-QuickBooks.com or www.mhhe.com/kay2018. You may need the License
and Product number mentioned above.
5. Assignments are completed using Excel Templates that you can access at:
www.mhhe.com/kay2018. You should have Excel.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course integrates accounting with the Quickbooks software application with
emphasis on completing the accounting records for a new company with data
input, updating information on lists, creating chart of accounts, analyzing
information, generating reports(financial statements) for decision making using
case studies.
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
 To create and set up a new company.
 To create and modify databases.
 To analyze and input accounting data and print financial statements.
 To generate and modify reports.
 To analyze financial statements for critical thinking.
 To generate and export data to excel.
TESTS AND EXAMINATIONS
Refer to the ELAC final exams schedule for the date and time of the final exam.
THERE WILL BE NO MAKE UP TESTS AND EXAMINATIONS. Students will be allowed
to take a make-up examination under very exceptional circumstances. A major
portion of your grade will come from the homework/classwork assignments and
projects.
ALL STUDENTS MUST TAKE THE FINAL EXAM

CHEATING
Cheating included but not limited to sharing information with other students
about the contents of answers to the tests and exams; copy other student’s
homework; etc. Penalty for cheating may range from no credit for the assignment
or test to exclusion from class and/or an “F” grade for the course.
